When first dieting and exercising, you should start off slow. Don’t jump into an extremely healthy diet and long exercise program because you are not likely to stick with it. Diet and exercise should slowly become a larger part of your life over the next few months.

 

Start off by changing your diet. You should throw away and slowly stop buying all junk food throughout your house. Not having the temptations staring you in the face can be very helpful in sticking to a healthy diet.

 

You should eat mostly all fresh organic foods. Avoid frozen dinners and processed foods which contain many chemicals and additives. Purchase fresh vegetables, fruits, and meats from your grocery store.

 

By cutting out all of these unhealthy foods, you will eliminate all unhealthy kinds of fat from your diet. There are healthy fats which you should get on a daily basis and these come from almonds, peanut butter, and extra virgin olive oil. Consume about 1 ounce of almonds and peanut butter a day while adding 1 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil to your salad.

 

Now that your diet is on track, you should start thinking about the exercising part of the diet and exercise equation. There are two main forms of exercise, cardio and weight lifting.

 

Cardio exercise is great for burning fat and dropping pounds. Most people will perform cardio exercise for about 20-30 minutes straight with no change in pace. This constant pace is a lot less effective than interval training. With interval training, you alter the pace of your cardio with short 1 minute sprints every 2 minutes. Add this with your 5 minute warm up and cool down and your cardio work out will only take 19-21 minutes. Do this at least 3 times a week and you’ll have a very beneficial diet and exercise routine. 

 

Weight lifting is great for building, toning, and strengthening muscles. You can virtually work out every muscle in your body with a set of dumbbells. 

 

To diet and exercise while receiving the most benefit you should consume 100 percent whey protein shakes daily after work outs.

 

Green tea is also a healthy drink which has many health benefits and fat burning tendencies.

 

If you haven’t used dumbbells before make sure you watch some work out videos to ensure you lift them correctly.
