Learn how to save energy and most importantly money! Cutting down on using energy can help protect the environment and protect your wallet.

Don’t leave the lights on when you leave a room. If you are going to leave the room for more than 20 seconds you will save energy and money by turning the light off versus leaving it on.

 Not only should you turn off lights but turn off other electronics when not in use. Turn of the TV when you aren’t watching it. Turn off your computer and printer when not in use. To save a lot of energy, make a list of all electronics in the house and start turning them off when not in use.

 

Turn your thermostat 2 degrees warmer in the winter and 2 degrees colder in the winter. When you aren’t home for a long period of time you should turn down the thermostat. If you have animals, you may want to leave the thermostat where it usually is.

 

Drippy faucets and leaky toilets consume a lot of energy because supplying water to households and company buildings are a huge use of electricity.

 

Start using a broom instead of vacuuming everything. Use a rake instead of an electric leaf blower to help save energy.

 

Be more conscious of your energy consumption and you will find yourself turning electronics off more often and helping the environment.

 

Start carpooling more often to save on gasoline.

You may start to fall back into old habits, so keep a reminder lying around to help refresh your memory on saving energy.
