Green at the Gym

Whether you are passionate about being green or are just starting to protect our environment, you can make our planet healthier while you are becoming healthier at the same time.

Don’t take bottled water to the gym. Use a refillable water bottle instead. Plastic is one the worst items for our planet. You can save a couple hundred dollars a year in bottled water costs and can save out planet from many pounds of plastic.

 

Don’t shower in the morning and after a work out. Try to work out early so you can shower afterwards and then head off to work. Showering once a day can save hundreds of gallons of water per year.

 

Run or jog outside instead of on the treadmill. Treadmills use electricity which causes more pollution to enter the atmosphere. Try to get other people off of the treadmills to run outside with you.

 

To be really green at the gym, you should not use any of the machines which run on electricity. Use the dumbbells, pulley machines, and exercise bikes which have resistance bands and no electricity.

 

Try doing all cardio exercise outdoors; Biking, running, and etc.
