Traveling Green

( 1 Vote )

People have become more serious about protecting our planet over the past few years but climate change is still a major issue. Traveling is one of the biggest contributors to global warming. Follow these steps to go green in traveling.

To go green in traveling, walk instead of driving. If you have a short commute to work, you could walk. The same goes for going to the park, going to a party store, and etc. If it is close enough to walk, then walk. Not only will the planet benefit, you will benefit from the fresh air and exercise.

If you don’t like walking, you could try biking. Riding a bike does no harm to the environment and helps get you where you need to be quicker than walking. Once again, you can benefit from biking and protect our planet at the same time.

To go green in traveling, take the train. If you are traveling longer distances, you could take the train instead of driving, flying, or taking a bus. Not only does it cause less pollution, it can be faster, less expensive, and more comfortable.

If you travel somewhere and have no car, you could rent a hybrid instead of a normal car or SUV. The next time your lease is up or you need a new car, check out some of the hybrid models available. The two most popular hybrid cards are the Toyota Prius, and the Honda Civic Hybrid. These car emit very low emissions and are much more fuel efficient than normal cars.

To go green in traveling, use public transportation. Using the city buses and subway to get around can help reduce pollution and help you save money on gas. You could even cut your family down to one car if you start using public transportation for work everyday.

Start car pooling. You can save a ton of money on gas by car pooling with 4 or 5 friends everyday to work. Even if you only have one person to share a ride with, you still can slice your emissions and gas costs in half.

To go green in traveling, try to apply at least a few of the tips above.

Making small changes in your life can help keep extra money in your pocket while protecting the environment.

Watch the documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth” for more information about global warming and protecting the environment.

Global warming is slowly happening and it will affect the entire planet. We all must eventually make major changes to help stop climate change.
